Welcome to Business Academy Aarhus, University of Applied Sciences – one of the largest business academies in Denmark

Business Academy Aarhus develops and offers practice-orientated higher education programmes. With more than 4,200 full-time students, 3,400 part-time students and about 400 employees we are one of the largest business academies in Denmark.

Business Academy Aarhus is a University of Applied Sciences.

In several European countries, this is an English-language term for institutions of higher education. The degree programmes we offer focus on applied degrees, especially in technology, IT and business.

Like universities, we provide both undergraduate programmes and can grant academic degrees, but we do not award master's or doctoral degrees.

In addition to this we also offer continuing education and part-time programmes at bachelor’s level and short-term courses for people who need to strengthen their qualifications on the job (only in Danish).
Our programmes combine theory with practice.

We prioritise tuition in small teams, group work, project work, cooperation with trade and industry, realistic cases and compulsory internships. We have about 900 international students, and every year more than 300 of our students go abroad for part of their programmes.

Developing and completing programmes must create value for students and companies alike. With this in mind we make a dedicated effort to apply our qualifications in relation to specific innovation and development projects in a joint effort with partnership companies.

Business Academy Aarhus was founded on 1 January 2009.

About Aarhus

Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark with a population of more than 300,000 people. It has the highest percentage of students in Denmark where approximately 16% of the population are students.
Aarhus is known as the City of Smiles (Smilets By)

This slogan was used back in 1938 to promote tourism. The meaning behind the name is up to each individuals' own definition and it has nothing to do with people from Aarhus smiling all the time. One of the reasons for the slogan could be that Aarhus is one of the world's smallest big cities with everything a city needs. Despite the rapid development, Aarhus is a pleasant place to live because of its relaxing and serene environment due to its closeness to the beautiful forests and beaches. It is also a vibrant city with a mix of the old and the new; old because of its status as the second oldest city in Denmark, and new because of the average age of its population. This is one of the reasons why Aarhus manages to attract a lot of students from the rest of Denmark, Europe and outside of Europe.

Practical matters

When you choose your higher education programme and maybe choose to study abroad in a new city, there are a lot of practical matters you need to know in order to get a good start and have a pleasant stay. You can get an overview here of the different matters related to studying at Business Academy Aarhus:

Buddy programme

At Business Academy Aarhus all new international students are offered a Buddy. A Buddy is a Danish or international Academy student, who volunteers to help new international students get off to a good start in Aarhus. But practical help is just one aspect of our Buddy programme.
A unique programme and opportunity for you

The Buddy programme offers Buddies and international students the opportunity to:

  • Participate in exclusive social and business related activities
  • Build a valuable international network
  • Improve language skills
  • Strengthen the personal and professional skills you need to work internationally

You can read all about how to become a Buddy or get a Buddy and see the activities in the current activity calendar.

Unfortunately, this programme is not open for exchange students.

Mentor programme

There are many good reasons why you should want a mentor.

When you prepare for a job and a career, it is very useful to know someone who will listen, ask questions, inspire you and share their experience and knowledge. You may wonder how to get the best possible internship or how to get your first job after your graduation, or you might want to know how to get your career started. Perhaps you have plans to start your own business but lack inspiration and knowledge about how to do it. Or perhaps you have other issues you would just like to discuss with someone.

In these situations, the mentor programme at Business Academy Aarhus is a good solution. A mentor is an objective third party who can help you with advice and feedback.

How you benefit:

  • One-on-one discussions about what is on your mind right now
  • Professional and personal development
  • Greater understanding of yourself
  • Inspiration and sparring about career planning
  • An improved and well thought-through foundation for making decisions
  • Networks and new contacts

Practical information

The mentoring programme normally lasts 6–12 months. We recommend that the mentor and the mentee meet four to six times during that period. Each meeting lasts for about an hour.

The programme begins with a compulsory kick-off meeting in Aarhus in which both mentors and mentees attend.

How to get a mentor

You enrol in the mentoring programme by completing a profile form. The profile form is then used to match a mentor with a mentee.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all students who sign up for the programme will be given a mentor, but we will, of course, do our best.
