We are the largest university of humanities and social sciences in Tallinn and the third biggest public university in Estonia. Tallinn University is an advocate and planner of intelligent lifestyle in Estonia, supporting the sustainability of our society as well as individual self-realisation.


At our university, longest traditions of teacher training in Estonia and the only film and media school in the Baltic countries exist side by side. We value innovation and interdisciplinarity in order to offer internationally competitive education based on research excellence.


Tallinn University was established by a decision of the parliament of Estonia on March 18, 2005 when a number of Tallinn educational and research institutions were consolidated into a single institution. Now we have more than 9000 students and over 900 employees, including over 400 researchers and lecturers here at Tallinn University. 


We have approximately 900 international students in degree and exchange studies. Every 10th academic person is of foreign background. Active international cooperation, well-known guest lecturers and our bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes in English help to create the multicultural university community.

Tallinn University welcomes qualified international students from around the world to apply for our study programmes taught in English. The students here appreciate not only the professional and academic environment but also the welcoming, open and friendly atmosphere of the university.


Tallinn University has a Student Union under which there are different clubs like International Club, Photo Club, Culture Club, etc. Students can take part of and organize the events, gatherings, etc.

Applications are accepted from January, 2017 until the following deadlines:

  • Non-EU/EEA (applicants who need a visa for coming to Estonia, except applicants from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia) –  15 April, 2017
  • EU/EEA citizens (applicants who do not need visa for coming to Estonia/ applicants from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia)  - 1 June, 2017
  • Deadline for Finnish citizens who have obtained secondary level qualification in Finland until 1 August, 2017 for bachelor level programmes.
