The College of Economics and Management (VSEM) is a private higher education institution offering studies in bachelor’s and master’s study programs in Economics and Management. More than 3000 students are currently enrolled at the VSEM and the tuition is provided by leading Czech academics and practicing experts.
Programs are delivered in two forms of studies – part-time (since the academic year 2002/2003) and full-time (since the academic year 2007/2008). VSEM programs are accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports who awarded VSEM with approval for acting as a private higher education institution in 2001. The bachelor’s study program and Master of Business Administration program are in the same time accredited by the European Council for Business Education (European accreditation body).
Student programs
VSEM cooperates with a range of partner institutions in all areas of interest and is member of different professional and scientific organizations and associations on both national and international level. Since the academic year 2008/2009, VSEM cooperates with more than 40 universities in the framework of Erasmus Program. With few universities, VSEM is developing closer collaboration in terms of creating a joint degree program (ESC Saint Etienne), establishing consortium (Furchtwangen University) aimed at student’s exchanges with Chinese universities, delivering English taught module to the VSEM students (University of Glamorgan).

About City
Contemporary Prague may be not the biggest city in Europe but it is recognized as one of the most well-known metropolises in Central Europe. Although the tourist that come here are stunned by the extensiveness of the old housing it is good to know that this capital has started to develop outside the medieval walls of five historical districts (Old Town with Jewish Josefov, New Town, Lesser Quarter, The Castle District and Vyšehrad) not before the end of the XIX century. This place is known as Czech biggest national urban reserve. It is a historical heart of the Czech Republic which covers the area of 886 and which in 1992 has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Prague was also in the group of the nine cities – capitals of European culture in 2000.
Prague is an administrative, industrial, trade, service, academic, tourist and cultural centre with international significance. It is a seat for almost all of the Czech government institutions (including parliament, president and the government) as well as the religious organizations existing in the Czech Republic and many enterprises, associations, organizations and higher education institutions. The city also functions as the country’s most important interchange and junction hub with the international airport and underground.
According to the data from 2008 the city is a home to 1 226 697 people (the first place in the Czech Republic) and it covers 496 km² (also the first place in the Czech Republic). Prague is divided into 22 administrative districts which consists of a 57 municipal districts. The Eurostat’s data estimate that in the Prague metropolitan area live 1 964 750 people.

If the student wishes to come to VSEM as an Erasmus Student he/she has to check with the home institution Erasmus coordinator whether the home University has an Erasmus agreement with VSEM and to obtain application materials. The first contact must be at the home University Erasmus office where students can obtain all the necessary information concerning study in terms of the Erasmus program. All application documents must be sent to the coordinator of VSEM and must be duly signed by the Erasmus coordinator (either Institutional or Departmental) at student’s home institution. To choose courses for the Learning Agreement students are asked to consult the internet pages.
