The Film Academy of Miroslav Ondříček (FAMO) in Písek is an independent private film school, which offers the possibilityto study Film Art in a beautiful, inspiring and traditionally cultural town Písek, situated in the region of South Bohemia, Czech Republic.

For international students we are running Film Course Programmes (1 semester / 1 year) as well as the accredited Bachelor (3 years) and Master (2 years) Degree Programmes. Each year there are also students from other partner schools abroad coming via Erasmus+ programme to join the classes.

Aim of the studies is to:

Forward professional knowledge and cultural outlook
Deepen aesthetics and dramatic feeling
Prepare the students for praxis

Bring many professional, creative, ethical and artistic impulses
Meet and cooperate with students in a narrow professional and personal relationship

The school continues in the tradition of organizing the International Student Film Festival in Písek, which introduces students to the organization of this project and extends mainly foreign contacts - www.filmfestpisek.cz.

Educational offer:

FAMO does not have dormitory on its disposal. However it is not difficult to find private accommodation in Písek and we are ready to help.

Single rooms in flats are being rented for about 3.500 – 5.000 CZK / month. A three-room flat (two rooms and kitchen) usually costs about 10.000 CZK / month.

Food & drinks

There are many places, where you can eat tasty, healthy and cheap. In Písek there are restaurants with typical czech cuisine, vegetarian dining rooms, pizzerias and others. Many of them are offering the daily menu for 70 – 90 CZK (2 – 4 euro). For buying stuff for home-cooking there are supermarkets, even discounts like Lidl and others. For food and eating you should spend max. 3500 CZK per month (app. 140 euro).

How to get to Písek

Písek is quite easy to reach from the capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague. It takes approximetly 1,5 – 2 hours to reach Pisek by car or bus . The fastest and cheapest way is to take a bus of the private traffic company, Student Agency. With internet reservation, what we recommend you, you pay 120 CZK (app. 5 euro). Reservation and schedule you find on their website

There are also other bus traffic companies, which can take you to Písek. The price is not much higher. They are very frequent; the journey takes app. 2 hours. The schedule and information about prices you can find on their website.

Of course there is also possible to take a train from the Prague Central Railway Station. There is good and frequent straight train connection between Prague and Písek. It is a bit longer though than by bus, app. 2 hours and also more expensive (app. 160 CZK).

For City Traffic In Písek you can use a local buses for the 15 CZK for a one route ticket. It is also possible to arrange a credit electronic ticket with minimum credit of 50 CZK. But as Písek isn´t large city, you can reach all the necessary points in the centre by foot.
