University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest is the largest and the oldest technical university in the country and among the most prestigious universities in Romania.
The tradition of our institution, developed in over 190 years through the effort of the most important nation's schoolmasters and of the generations of students, is not the only convincing reason. Today, the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest is undergoing a continuous modernization process, being involved in a permanent dialogue with great universities in Europe and all over the world.
The mission of the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest has been thought over as a blend of education, research and innovation, which represents a key towards a knowledge-based society and economy. Creating knowledge mainly by scientific research, giving it out by education and professional training, disseminating it by information technologies, as well as the use of technological innovation are elements that define the university distinctive profile.
The University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest wants to be present among the universities in Europe able to design and optimize processes that lead to a knowledge-based society, to reaching the goals of the sustainable economic growth, to better jobs, to stronger economic and social cohesion, in compliance with the provisions of the 2002 European Council in Lisbon and European Council in Barcelona in the same year.
The engineering profession has continuously transformed and adapted itself to the new demands of the society, but being an engineer, viz. a person who knows and is able to make life more comfortable, has remained unchanged.
The University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest is the oldest and most prestigious engineering school in Romania, with a tradition of more than 190 years made possible by the efforts of some of the greatest Romanian professors.
Its specificity relies in creating knowledge through research and technological innovation, as well as through its implementation by means of education and professional training at a European level.
At present the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest is formed by 15 different faculties.
Consequently, classrooms and laboratories are located in several places: the historical Polizu building, as well as the modern university campuses located in 313 Splaiul Independentei, and in 1-3 Iuliu Maniu Blvd., both in sector 6.
The campus is located on the bank of the Dambovita River, at Splaiul Independentei, No. 290, Sector 6, 060042 – Bucharest, ROMANIA.
Building P19 was renovated in 2009, and the rooms are provided with own bathroom, refrigerator, air-conditioning, TV set, TV cable, Internet connection.
The rooms include two beds, and usualy you have to share the room with another student.
Once arrived at the P19 building, a person located at the entrance will guide you to your room.
According to the Government Decree no. 22 of 29.08.2009, approved by Law 1/06.01.2010, the minimum quantum of tuition fees, in currency, for the foreign citizens who study in Romania on their own expenses and who are citizens of countries that are not members of the European Union, or citizens of countries that are not part of the European Economic Space and of the Swiss Confederation, starting with the year of study 2009-2010, is the one mentioned below.

Admission requirements for EU students
The citizens from EU countries candidate for admission in the Romanian educational system under the same conditions as the Romanian citizens and they are subject to the same tuition fees as the Romanian students.
In order to obtain the recognition of the studies , the European candidates must send to University Politehnica of Bucharest the following documents:
Filled application form
Certified copy of Baccalaureate diploma
Certified copy of university diploma and academic transcript( for master or PhD)
Personal Identification Document : Passport (copies of pages 1,2,3,4)/identity card (ID).
The documents written in other languages than English or French will be translated in Romanian or English.
The fee for the recognition of study documents is 50 RON and can be paid either by bank transfer or postal order.

Admission requirements for non-EU students
The citizens from non-EU countries who wish to study in our university must :
have the documents proving the citizenship of the respective state
have the necessary qualification, attested by educational documents
have the pre-approval of University "POLITEHNICA" of Bucharest
Non-EU citizens willing to study in Romania have to apply to University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, in order to receive the pre-enrollment.
The Letter of Acceptance will then be issued by the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport.
The application forms are available at the International Partnerships and Romanian Diaspora Direction of the Ministry of Education , Research, Youth and Sport or on the site www.upb.ro of our university, at the Romanian Embassies abroad, or it can be downloaded directly from the site of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport.
The application papers, only in copy, have to be mailed to the University „POLITEHNICA” of Bucharest, for pre-enrollment. The official documents have to be submitted personally, in original, when applying in Romania.
Before coming to Romania, the international students should have their documents endorsed within the Romanian embassies in their own countries; there, they should obtain a valid visa for studying in Romania.
The citizens from non-EU countries can be registered for studies in University „POLITEHNICA” of Bucharest without entry examination, by supplementing the enrolment figure approved for Romanian citizens.
The staff of foreign official representatives – ambassades, consular offices, economic agencies, international organisations and organisms – and their family members can be accepted in the Romanian higher educational system, under the same regime of tuition fees as the Romanian citizens. The official quality of the these candidats has to be confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Admission to „POLITEHNICA” university is based on the selection of application files.
In order to apply for the Ph.D studies, international students are also required to pass the entry examination.
International students have to prove good knowledge of the teaching language (Romanian, English, French or German).
Usually, they learn Romanian during a preparatory year ( being possible in our university only for candidats that intend to follow postuniversity study).
The candidates who speak Romanian can skip the preparatory year after having passed a test of Romanian language. The candidates who can formally prove that they have studied in Romanian for at least four years consecutively, do not need to pass the
Romanian language test nor to attend the preparatory year.
Foreign students who have begun to study in their home country or in another country, can finish their studies in Romania. This possibility depends on each individual case, after the recognition and equivalence of diplomas by our university.

These documents have to be accompanied by legalized translations in a language of international circulation (by case), certified for authentication by the Embassy of Romania from the issuer country or with Apostille of Hague (for EU citizens).
Before coming to Romania, the non-EU citizens should obtain a valid visa for study in Romania from the Romanian embassies in their own countries.
