Warsaw School of Applied Linguistics (Lingwistyczna Szkoła Wyższa w Warszawie) is the only private college of linguistics in Mazowia and one of a few in Poland. It educates translators, foreign language teachers and other specialists in applied linguistics to become highly esteemed in the job market. Specializing in translation studies and foreign language teaching, the school focuses its teaching and academic research on preparing valued employees able to use their knowledge of foreign languages (English, Russian and German) in their professional career. The education offered by LSW takes into account the changing needs of the job market and the latest research and achievements in applied linguistics.
By May 2014, the total number of graduates reached 850.
We offer hands-on part/full-time undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. Undergraduate studies include courses in translation studies and practice, foreign language teaching, as well as combined streams in teaching and translation. The current graduates specializing in foreign language teaching will obtain eligibility to teach in preschools and primary schools.
Our postgraduate courses are also receiving wide acclaim. We currently offer the following tri-semester teaching and two-semester translation programs: Postgraduate Course for Sworn Translators, Postgraduate Course in Technical Translation, Postgraduate Course in Literary Translation.
Our teaching staff comprise leading research-active experts who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our courses. Amongst those are both established academics and young aspiring teachers and translators eager to share valuable experience with their students.
We spare no effort in preparing students for the constantly changing challenges of the job market. Arranged in small groups, our classes, workshops and seminars assure maximum comfort of study and highest teaching quality.

As regards research excellence, LSW hosts yearly conference series "A Dialogue of Languages and Cultures" welcoming wide range of language-related studies. Furthermore, we issue a yearly academic journal "Language and Literary Studies of Warsaw" – a venue for academic papers and reviews by home and external researchers as well as outstanding LSW students.

Bachelor’s Degree Programmes:
The graduates of Warsaw School of Applied Linguistics are awarded with a diploma of completion of Bachelor’s Degree Studies and a professional title of licencjat in Philology in one of three specialties: English - English Philology, German - German Philology and Russian - Russian Philology.

Majors:
Graduates majoring in Teaching, according to Polish educational standards of foreign language teaching, acquire necessary qualification to teach foreign languages in primary schools and kindergartens. Following the second-cycle studies in philology or linguistics, students acquire the necessary qualifications to teach a foreign language in all types of schools, including a highly-specialized language schools. They are equipped with didactic skills, allowing them to teach a foreign language with the application of modern technology: IT-based tools, computer and multimedia techniques, etc.
Graduates majoring in Translation are proficient users of the language of specialty and they are able to translate texts and interpret utterances using various styles and language registers. They are successful at the job market working as freelance translators or interpreters as well as cooperating with translation agencies, companies and institutions. They can use the knowledge concerning legal and organizational aspects of translator’s work in practice. They are able to select and apply appropriate strategies and techniques used in translation and interpreting. They are proficient users of DTP and CAT tools.
Graduates majoring in Teaching and Translation follow the extended curriculum of both specializations and acquire necessary qualifications to teach a foreign language in primary schools and kindergartens and acquire the practical skills necessary for carrying out translation and interpreting tasks in the language of their specialty.

The University offers full-time and part-time systems of studies. In full-time system classes are held from Monday to Friday and in part-time mode on Saturdays and Sundays.
Master’s Degree Programmes:
The graduates of Warsaw School of Applied Linguistics are awarded with a diploma of completion of Master’s Degree Studies and a professional title of magister in Philology in English - English Philology.

Postgraduate Programmes
The programmes of Postgraduate Studies for Sworn, Specialist, Literary and Audio-visual Translators providee students with practical language skills required in translator’s or interpreter’s profession as well as the knowledge of specialist sector terminology. The program includes: the theory of translation of texts and documents, the methodology of translation and interpreting, text analysis, knowledge of specialist terminology as well as grammar, culture and stylistics of the Polish language. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures, seminars and workshops: translation of legal, economic, financial, medical and technical texts as well as interpreting: consecutive and a vista translation.
Warsaw School of Applied Linguistics offers training courses and postgraduate studies in the fields of Legal, Financial and Medical English. Postgraduate studies: English for Medical Staff are designed for people who work or intend to work in international institutions which provide medical, dental and cosmetic services or public health centres and for those who wish to further deepen their knowledge of a foreign language and expand vocabulary in the field of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, cosmetology or public health.
For Polish and international professionals who work or intend to work in international law firms, companies, organizations or institutions, and for those who wish to further deepen their knowledge of a foreign language and expand vocabulary in the field of law and economics, Warsaw School of Applied Linguistics offers two-semester postgraduate studies - English for Lawyers /German for Lawyers. Those who wish to deepen their knowledge of a foreign language and expand vocabulary in the field of business, accounting and finance may enrol into two-semester postgraduate studies in ESP - English for Accountants and Financiers.
