The mission of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra is to prepare university educated professionals for all the areas of agro allimentary resort. At its six faculties, the university offers ample opportunities for obtaining knowledge in the areas of biology, economics, and the technical and social sciences, thus creating a strong foundation for its graduates to be successful in other professional areas as well. Modern educational system offers study programmes compatibility with other universities, development of interdisciplinary study programmes and part time studies at different home and foreign faculties and universities. The SUA introduced ECTS Credit System as the first Slovak university. In 2009, after a complex accreditation, based on the decision of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the SR, the SUA was classified as the institution of university type. In 2015, it ranked among the top seven universities in Slovakia according to the Accreditation Board.

The university students have broad opportunities for how to spend their free time, relaxing or doing sports or hobbies. The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra supports art groups and students interest groups. It also creates conditions for the formation of new interest groups. There is a folklore ensemble Zobor, dormitory radio broadcasting and dormitory TV studio Mladosť, Hunting Group, the Slovak Red Cross Youth Association, Catholic Youth Club FONS, University Bible Fellowship. Interesting activities in the field of international contacts are offered by local student and professional associations AIESEC, ELASA and Erasmus Student Network.
Students` Days
Autumn and spring students‘ days have a long tradition. They are connected with conferences, cultural, social and sports events organized by both universities in cooperation with the city of Nitra. The most popular are carnival parade through the streets of Nitra, imatriculation ball and exhibition ice hockey match.
Sport
The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra has wide sport opportunities on its own premises. The SUA Physical Education and Sport Department offers students the use of a multipurpose sports hall, a 25 metres long indoor swimming pool, activity studio, fitness centre, tennis courts and beach-volleyball court. These facilities allow the SUA students to choose specialized trainings for basketball, volleyball, floorball, korfball, intramural football, exercises accompanied by music, swimming, tennis, fitness, etc. All students interested in participating in sports at the top level can participate in volleyball, basketball, swimming, chess, tennis, body-building, fitness, canoeing, triathlon and horse riding. SUA VK Ekonóm and the double champion of Slovakia, the SUA basketball club, regularly accomplish significant achievements in top competitions.
