The Faculty of Management is one of the youngest faculties of the University of Lodz. It came into being on September 1st, 1994.

 

The Faculty provides world-class education to nearly 5,000 students and the academic staff of the Faculty, numbering almost 200 academics, carry out research in management-related sciences in cooperation with international partners, according to best regional and international practice. In addition, the Faculty of Management is the leading scientific and didactic centre in the region of Lodz, specialising in management-related sciences.

 

Though the Faculty of Management is a fairly young business school, there has been significant growth in intellectual potential since it was established. The Faculty started with 89 academic teachers and that has expanded to nearly 200 members of staff and the growing number of students is further evidence of development. Student numbers have doubled from 2,050 to nearly 5,000 and although the majority of students are of Polish origin, there has been a considerable growth in the number of international students - one of the strategic objectives of the Faculty is to become a genuine melting pot of business students from throughout the globe.

PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

 

The main goal of the Faculty of Management is to train future experts and prepare our students to meet the highest standards of working in the business community. We are renowned for providing and sharing knowledge, as well as the quality of learning.

  • The Faculty of Management was evaluated as outstanding by the Polish Accreditation Committee responsible for the improvement of the quality of education in higher education institutions. It is the highest assessment meaning that the Faculty prepared a comprehensive system for providing the quality of education and enhances its co-operation with business and institutions.
  • The Ministry of Science and Higher Education granted the Faculty an “A” category, indicating the scientific potential and prestige of the Faculty.
  • The Accounting as well as Finance and Accounting courses were granted the prestigious and internationally recognized ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) certificate. In order to become qualified by ACCA students are required to pass 14 exams. Students of these courses are offered exemptions from taking F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7 exams.

The Faculty of Management offers study programmes in the fields of: management, logistics, finance and accounting, including thirteen leading to an award of a bachalor degree and six leading to an award of a master degree. For our students interested in studying in English we deliver a BA in Business Management, a BA in Management and Finance and an MA in Business Management, which aim to educate experts capable of working effectively in an international environment.

 

Management and Finance is a BA study programme providing students with theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of management and related sciences, especially corporate finance and accounting, concerning the nature, regularities and problems connected with the operation of an organisation. This programme gives students an opportunity to graduate with a truly global mindset and an ability to understand and efficiently perform in an international economic environment.

 

Business Management is available on both the BA as well as MA level. It has been designed for people thinking about international careers and willing to broaden their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of business and related areas. The programme offers a holistic approach to management. Graduates are provided with required skills and knowledge in terms of using methods and tools to support management processes in various types of organisations.

Students of the Faculty of Management operate in various groups and societies according to their interests and needs. Currently there are 10 student associations functioning in fields of marketing, logistics, new media, human resources, finance, accounting and management. Students are also welcome to join Erasmus Student Network (ESN) or AIESEC.The Faculty takes part in a wide range of international student exchange programmes. We develop international co-operation with foreign universities and educational institutions. Our students may choose travel destinations within ERASMUS+ programme and Mobility Direct programme, totalling over a hundred universities in Europe and all over the world. Our teachers are open to students’ needs and encourage them to take opportunities to travel abroad.

 

Our Faculty has got over 5000 students and it is our sincere hope to open our doors to more international students. Here at the Faculty of Management we embrace new challenges and opportunities and we look forward to seeing more students from different backgrounds and cultures which will help to enrich the cultural climate of both the university and the city of Lodz. Each member of our community is committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and research. It’s our strongly held belief that education has a transformative capacity and our role as a university is to equip and train the next generation of students with the requisite mindsets and skills essential for success in a changing world. We are confident about the future as we seek to produce outstanding graduates that are sought after and make a vital contribution to human and social development.

The list of required documents for admission is as follows:

  • Application form that is legibly filled out using capital letters and signed;
  • Legalised document (original) confirming secondary school graduation;
  • Confirmation of the right to apply for any type of higher education programme in the country where the candidate was awarded the school leaving diploma;
  • Copy of the passport page containing the photo;
  • Three passport photographs;
  • Signed cover letter;
  • Certificate confirming the candidate's proficiency in English which is the language of instruction (i.e. Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or any other document that can certify whether a candidate’s high school instruction was conducted in English;
  • Confirmation that a non-returnable application fee of 200 EUR has been paid to the University of Lodz account;
  • Statutory obligation where the candidate commits to complete the nostrification process no later than until the end of the first semester of studies, provided that the candidate has been successfully enrolled (prospective students may receive it by e-mail upon request), stating that in case the candidate is admitted to the studies he/she shall nostrify his/her documents by the end of the first semester.;
  • Completed and signed accommodation request form.
